Methode Du Jeune Violoncelliste: An outstandingly thorough method covering all fundamental aspects of cello technique from very basic to intermediate level. This book is well suited to teenage and adult beginners, and is an excellent supplement to any early to intermediate method.

60 Etudes Du Jeune Violoncelliste: 60 progressive studies for the young cellist, focusing on both left hand and bowing technique. Highly recommended as a preparatory introduction to Feuillard’s Daily Exercises. The studies range in difficulty level from late beginner to early advanced.

Sebastian Lee: 40 Melodic And Progressive Etudes Book 1: Sebastian Lee is primarily known for his numerous compositions intended for purposes of instruction, many of which were primarily written for the use of the Conservatoire in Paris. His method for cello is one of the most widely used of all such instruction books.

Friedrich Dotzauer: 40 Studies For Cello: Friederich Dotzauer’s most enduring work is his 180 Studies for Cello, Violoncellschules, which are still used today. This set is from the latter part of his studies and are suitable for advanced players, or as exercises for skilled cellists.

Jean-Louis Duport: 21 Etudes For Violoncello: These etudes are written to improve finger agility and bowing technique for the intermediate to advanced cellist. This edition uses the first edition as its point of origin, and is free from the many elements added by editors over the past 200 years. Fingering has been updated to reflect modern cello technique, and the ad lib 2nd cello part from the original edition has been restored.

Carlo Alfredo Piatti: 12 Capricci Opus 25: Piatti’s 12 Caprices occupy a very prominent place in the repertoire for cello – both as solo concert pieces and as advanced technical studies.
