I have been playing and teaching the cello professionally since 1998 and studying it for many more years than that. I have played in orchestras and bands, performed in cabaret bars, coffee shops, recital halls and circus tents, and I have loved every second of it.

I am passionate about my instrument and music-making in many different forms and guises. This blog is my vehicle for sharing things I’ve learnt along the way – from inspiring people who have taught and worked with me, and from my own experiences and observations. Since learning should be a life-long endeavour, I welcome comments and debate.

If you share my passion for playing and teaching the cello and have found the pages and blog posts useful, entertaining, educational or all of the above, please consider making a donation. Your contribution – no matter how big or small – will help to maintain and build this site. Thanks for reading!
